Wind Alert Activation
La Palma, Tenerife and Gran Canaria and wind pre-alert in Fuerteventura
The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, declares a wind alert situation in the western islands and Gran Canaria, as well as a pre-alert for the same phenomenon in Fuerteventura, starting at 06:00 tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18.

Alert situation: La Palma, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Pre-alert situation: Fuerteventura
Observations:
W component wind, moderate with strong intervals, which may reach and exceed 70 kilometers per hour from Wednesday morning. On Thursday morning, it will progressively shift to the southwest, intensifying, with gusts that may already reach and exceed 90 kilometers per hour, and which will mainly affect exposed areas on summits, high mid-slopes and other places where wind acceleration usually occurs.
In La Palma, in Puntagorda and Garafía up to the summits of La Caldera de Taburiente, extending the main affected area through El Paso and Cumbre Vieja to Fuencaliente, and including the eastern mid-slopes of the island; in Tenerife, in the northwestern summits and up to Las Cañadas and El Teide, extending the main affected area to Izaña; also on the coast of Santa Cruz and El Rosario, and summits of the Anaga massif; in Gran Canaria along the entire central line of summits and the high mid-slopes of the northeast, from the summits of Firgas and Moya to the upper part of Barranco de Guayadeque.
In Fuerteventura, the wind intensity will be somewhat lower, although gusts of 70 km/h may be reached and exceeded from Wednesday afternoon, and picking up again on Thursday afternoon.
